Durham Book Club isn't your typical reading program - it's a year-round effort led entirely by middle school students. It's not just about books. It's about building leaders and connecting kids through shared stories, and we hope you'll join us. While you're here, take a look around, check out what we do, and leave a note. Announcing... DBCtalks
Every fall, we select four titles for Durham middle school students to read together during the summer. Our selection process is super fun, but it's also REALLY hard. There are thousands of amazing books we want to read, hundreds we could recommend to our friends, and so many incredible authors we want to meet.
This podcast is our chance to share our book recommendations with you, but we'll also talk to authors, librarians, students, and other community members about books, reading, and writing. We hope you'll want to share this experience with us!

At our very first Writing Workshop in January, we had so much fun with Scott Reintgen with a super insightful discussion about worldbuilding and character building. We're so grateful for our partnership with Durham County Library teen services managers and their amazing collaborations with us. Together, we're able to get so many tweens and teens together to talk about reading, writing, and so much more!
We are joining the national conversation.
Durham Book Club is proud and excited to be a part of the Diverse Books for All Coalition, a national effort to increase access to affordable, high quality children's books by and about diverse races, cultures, identities, and abilities. As a student-run program, this is an incredibly special opportunity for us to bring our voices to issues that are important to us.
